We decided to start with one of our favorite finds from TJ Maxx this year – a Nicholas white grid lace dress with a rather Alexander McQueen-like gothic flair. Grid lace is our favorite kind of lace to play with–a sort of lace for grown-ups.

This is certainly a statement dress, but we could also see it toned down a bit by adding a black bandeau underneath.

Paired with a wide-brimmed hat in a gorgeous plum wine shade.

And some leather sandals with an unexpected metallic heel.
